Market Leader in
Clock Auctions

Our firm has been the leading innovator in the design of clock auctions and our software has been used to run the majority of high-stakes clock auctions held worldwide to date. Most notably, we designed and provided the software for the first commercial implementation of a simultaneous clock auction, in 2001 for EDF, and we have run similar clock auctions for many other companies including E.ON, DONG, BHP Billiton, Endesa, and Iberdrola. Our proprietary Intra-Round Bidding technology allows a significant reduction in the number of rounds in an auction while improving efficiency and revenues. We have been awarded nine US patents for our auction technology and have other applications pending.

Simultaneous Multiple-Round Auctions (SMRA)

Using our PowerAuctions™ software platform, we have built a modern implementation of the simultaneous multiple-round auction. The SMRA design is the auction format that has been used for most spectrum auctions worldwide since 1994. We offer the most innovative and effective SMRA software available anywhere. Aside from being a leading solution for spectrum regulators, our software is frequently used by mobile telephone providers and their advisors as a bidder training and simulation tool.

Combinatorial Auctions and
New Designs

We have implemented a number of innovative new auction designs that are based on our economists' research work and have been used for auctions in new fields such as aviation, as well as in established fields such as telecommunications. We are currently implementing a combinatorial clock auction for the Australian Communications and Media Authority for their 700 MHz and 2.5 GHz (digital dividend) spectrum auction. Our software team is very experienced implementing the economics principles underlying auction design and are able to customize the software to support new auction designs and rules efficiently and reliably.
